Granlibakken Tahoe

We enjoyed many aspects of Granlibakken—great location, fun snow conditions, a charming campy old-lodge vibe, and an excellent breakfast. The lodge suite was spacious and fit our needs well. Our room was older, but very clean. However, the mattresses were a major issue. They felt like very cheap spring mattresses—both beds dipped deeply in the middle and offered almost no support. Any movement caused the entire bed to shake, even something as simple as getting up to use the restroom. After two nights, it was clear this wasn’t a one-off issue. As a stomach sleeper, getting a good night’s sleep was nearly impossible. For the price you pay to stay here, a supportive, denser mattress should be a basic expectation. The lack of sleep really impacted my stay, but thankfully my husband and kids slept ok. With upgraded mattresses, this would be a much stronger experience overall.

I was just there for the day. Sledding hill was a lot of fun and well maintained. Ski Hill is perfect for teaching. The ski hut food and drink was resort pricing, but very cozy.

This resort is amazing! The location is beautiful, the rooms are nice, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Their ski hill and sledding are quite nice for beginners.

This is our second time staying here this summer. We like the Granlibakken because the location is so serene and quiet and relaxing. We love the hot tub and we used the sauna too. The rooms have a cabin type vibe. Nothing to write home about. Crisp sheets, basic bathroom. The porch is nice to walk out on in the morning and look at the trees. It’s so quiet here. That’s the best thing. It’s a beautiful piece of land. Might try another place for next time but also would come back again!

We stayed at this beautiful place with my family this summer. A girl named Clover was incredibly friendly, she not only walked us to the restaurant when we got lost, but also introduced the facilities and shared fun local activities along the way. It felt so welcoming.

Restaurant not open during our stay. Had to go into Truckee, or Tahoe City. Beds way too soft, they need replacing. Rooms clean and well kept.

Rooms are nice and clean with all the amenities you could want, but some of the items are outdated. Beautiful place, and the kids absolutely loved it.

My friends and I stayed at the Granlibakken for a ski trip and we had a wonderful stay! The staff were incredibly accommodating, bringing us pullout beds and getting us seated last minute at the hotel restaurant with a reservation. I'm glad we got seated at the restaurant because it was fantastic- I especially enjoyed the ahi cones and lobster mac and cheese. We also got a delightful bottle of wine for $22! After dinner we ventured to the hot tub and sauna. The hot tub was surprisingly large, it fit our group as well as several other groups without feeling crowded. The Granlibakken is definitely going to see me again!
